Padang, May 16, 2023 - The 5 Million Entrepreneur 2045 LPDP Business Competition has officially commenced since May 2. To broadcast news and pique the interest of young entrepreneurs, LPDP, together with the Mata Garuda community in West Sumatra, directly engaged approximately 300 potential Business Competition applicants in Padang on Tuesday, May 16, 2023. This event's participants weren't only dominated by the general public but also included students, LPDP awardees and alumni, as well as high school students.

During this occasion, LPDP provided details about the Business Competition's technical aspects. The competition featured two categories: Business Initiation for business ideas/plans that have been operational for a maximum of two years and Business Growth Plan for businesses running between two to five years with potential for substantial growth. The business sectors in the competition spanned environmental, healthcare, technology, education, biotechnology, culture and tourism, creativity, and agriculture.

Beyond the informational session, the event also included mentoring sessions from two Mata Garuda Sumatera Barat speakers: Indah Permata Suryani, a lecturer at Universitas Andalas and a finance master's graduate from Birmingham University, and M. Ikhsan Alia, a businessman and a banking law master's graduate from Glasgow University. During their presentations, Indah instilled inspiration and motivation in potential participants to discover their business ideas using design thinking abilities. Additionally, Ikhsan enriched the understanding of Padang's Business Competition participants by explaining methods for crafting business ideas and proposals.

The structured agenda and content provided at the Padang orientation received warm appreciation. Participants not only required technical competition information but also gained insights into finding business ideas and the technical aspects of developing a solid business proposal through the speakers' presentations.

Entrepreneurial Vision for the Nation

In her address, Acting Head of the Alumni Management Division, Mrs. Juni Damanik, conveyed that the 5ME2045: LPDP Business Competition is LPDP's and the LPDP alumni community Mata Garuda's contribution to realizing economic growth through entrepreneurship. 5ME2045, an acronym for 5 Million Entrepreneur 2045, symbolizes a vision depicting the flourishing entrepreneurship climate in Indonesia. This vision aims to elevate Indonesia's economic sovereignty as the world's fourth strongest by 2045, going beyond mere aspirations.

The selection of West Sumatra, especially Padang, as the starting point for the LPDP Business Competition's roadshow received approval from Mrs. Syukriah, Head of the Regional Office of the Directorate General of Treasury in West Sumatra, Ministry of Finance RI. In her speech, Mrs. Syukria reminded the audience that entrepreneurship flows like blood in the veins of Minang people. Their proficiency has been proven through the successes of Minang entrepreneurs, even abroad. Through the LPDP Business Competition, Mrs. Syukriah hoped that Padang and West Sumatra, in general, could become breeding grounds for young entrepreneurs, uplifting both regional and national economies.

The LPDP Business Competition orientation was also attended by the Governor of West Sumatra, Mr. Mahyeldi. In his speech, the Governor revealed LPDP's new flagship program aligns with his region's initiative to produce 100,000 entrepreneurs. Entrepreneurship is an honorable profession, the Governor advised the predominantly young audience attending the orientation, urging them to channel their thoughts and energy promptly to truly manifest their business endeavors.
