Jakarta, May 30, 2023 – The Education Fund Management Institute (LPDP) and PT Sarana Multi Infrastruktur (PT SMI) signed a strategic memorandum of understanding to accelerate national development on Tuesday morning (30/5). The collaboration between LPDP and PT SMI encompasses four strategic areas: investment cooperation, human resources development, research, and philanthropic fund distribution.
As fellow Special Mission Vehicles (SMV) under the Ministry of Finance, LPDP and PT SMI are tasked with accelerating national development. Both institutions will collaborate on various programs derived from these four strategic areas, such as green energy development, scholarship program promotion, LPDP alumni management, human resources development, and more.
According to the President Director of PT SMI, Edwin Syahruzad, LPDP and PT SMI each possess unique strengths and characteristics that can be synergized to achieve a shared vision and mission. Edwin hopes that the collaboration with LPDP will translate into tangible actions in fulfilling the mandate to build the nation.
"LPDP has the advantage of its scholarship program, and PT SMI also has strengths in contributing by building infrastructure. With these distinct characteristics, I believe it is crucial for both institutions to collaborate and synergize to strengthen their respective roles," said Edwin Syahruzad in his remarks.
This collaboration can also be utilized to finance research activities conducted by both parties. Combined with PT SMI's experience in managing philanthropic funds, this partnership can open access to the management of philanthropic funds and other strategic partners.
In the same vein, LPDP's President Director, Andin Hadiyanto, sees PT SMI as a strategic partner in realizing LPDP's vision. Therefore, the signing of this collaboration is a significant step forward.
"On this auspicious day, we come together to sign the framework agreement between LPDP-PT SMI as a manifestation of the synergy between two institutions that share a commitment to preparing a better future for Indonesia," said Andin Hadiyanto, who also delivered remarks before the signing of the memorandum of understanding.
As an institution managing education and research funds, LPDP has a clear vision to produce competitive and globally competent human resources in Indonesia. LPDP also encourages research innovation to make Indonesia an advanced, prosperous, democratic, and just country.
LPDP's service programs are fully supported by prudent investment management with a measured risk level, always supporting the implementation of sustainability concepts in Indonesia. This includes placing portfolios in environmentally conscious bonds or green bonds, such as those issued by PT SMI.
After the speeches and presentations by the President Directors of PT SMI and LPDP, the event continued with the signing of the memorandum of understanding in the presence of the boards of both institutions, followed by the exchange of plaques.
The signing ceremony between LPDP and PT SMI took place at PT SMI's headquarters located at Sahid Sudirman Center, Floors 47-48, Central Jakarta. The event was also attended by the board members of LPDP and PT SMI.
