Jakarta, February 17, 2023 - The Education Fund Management Agency (LPDP), in collaboration with PT. SMI, conducted an online briefing on RISPRO Invitation Batch 1, 2023 for 15 university representatives in Indonesia on Friday, February 17, 2023. The theme of this RISPRO Invitation is Renewable Energy, specifically focusing on New Renewable Energy and Energy Transition.
PT. SMI has selected 15 universities to participate in the RISPRO Invitation competition, with the hope that they will contribute research products based on renewable energy. Invited universities are also required to collaborate with or affiliate with startups to commercialize research products, especially those involving practical technologies.
Climate change has become a global issue in recent years. Indonesia itself is committed to reducing dependence on fossil fuels by targeting the Net Zero Emission program by 2060. LPDP and PT. SMI, as the Special Mission Vehicle (SMV) of the Ministry of Finance, have agreed to collaborate in funding research in the field of New Renewable Energy or Energy Transition as part of their support for the government's achievement efforts.
"We hope that in a short period, in the near future, we can receive support from our colleagues in universities regarding various research results that we can utilize and develop together to support the energy transition process in Indonesia," said Gan Gan Dirgantara, Head of the Social and Technical Environmental Evaluation Division at PT. SMI.
The funding allocation for the inaugural research collaboration between LPDP and PT. SMI is one billion rupiahs. The two best research proposals will each receive funding of 500 million rupiahs for one year.
In his address, Wisnu Sardjono Soenarso, the Research Director of LPDP, expressed the hope that collaboration with PT. SMI will continue, and the funding amount as well as the number of participating universities will increase. "LPDP, with its eRISPRO information system and research analysts, is ready to support collaboration with PT. SMI," said Wisnu Sardjono Soenarso optimistically.
The representatives of the 15 universities showed enthusiasm during the Q&A session regarding research discussions and the overarching theme of renewable energy. The registration for research proposals for RISPRO Invitation Batch 1, 2023, focusing on New Renewable Energy, is open from February 28 to April 28, 2023, by visiting risprolpdp.kemenkeu.go.id. The entire registration and selection process is free of charge and is conducted through eRISPRO.
