Jakarta, April 25, 2024 - The Indonesia Endowment Fund for Education Agency (LPDP) has conducted a scholarship socialization in collaboration with three universities from Korea and China on Thursday (25/4) afternoon. Calling upon the nation's best sons and daughters who are currently seeking scholarships to register themselves.

This socialization aims to introduce to the wider public that LPDP is currently opening three priority scholarships, namely, the Metalurgy collaboration scholarship with Northeastern University (NEU), the collaboration scholarship with Central South University (CSU), and the collaboration scholarship with Korea University of Science & Technology (UST).

Muhammad Firdausi Manti, Assistant Deputy for Maritime and Transportation Industry of the Coordinating Ministry for Maritime Affairs and Investment (Kemenomarves), explained in his socialization presentation that the priority scholarships at NEU and CSU are intended to fulfill the downstreaming program of mineral-based industries currently underway in Indonesia.

"CSU is located in Hunan province in China. It is a city that is quite good and also the birthplace of metallurgy. So this campus is quite good and well-known," he explained about the CSU scholarship which has been ongoing since 2019.

There is also the NEU scholarship which offers a post-graduation work bond at mining companies in Indonesia.

"For this NEU scholarship, there is an additional two-year work bond directly at Zhejiang Huayou Cobalt in Indonesia, at its site, at the smelter, whether it's in Morowali, South Sulawesi, or perhaps in Halmahera," explained Muhammad Firdausi Manti.

This CSU scholarship is the second batch, where last year there were 26 Indonesian students who went and studied there.

For those interested in themes related to the digital field, renewable energy, blue economy, and biotechnology, the scholarship to UST in South Korea could be an option.

Inhwa Hwang, an Admission Staff from UST South Korea, explained that UST is a prestigious science campus that is a combination of 32 government-funded research institutes. The campus is located in Daejeon and has research facilities spread across many cities in South Korea.

"You will have access to advanced equipment and facilities available at each research institution. You will receive guidance from our outstanding faculty members in various fields. You will also participate in long-term and large-scale national research and development projects," said Inhwa Hwang.

Meanwhile, LPDP CEO Dwi Larso revealed that scholarships with collaboration schemes like this are very beneficial from a financing perspective because they are co-funded with partner campuses.

"This will certainly save rupiahs. If in the past we sent one, with this collaboration we can send three (students)," said Dwi Larso at the opening on Thursday (26/4) afternoon.

Furthermore, Dwi Larso said that the goal of the co-funding scholarships at Korean and Chinese campuses is to catch up in priority areas needed by the nation.

Registration for NEU and CSU scholarships is open from April 17, 2024, to May 17, 2024, and provides a master's degree with a maximum education duration of three years. Meanwhile, registration for UST scholarships is open from April 17, 2024, to May 6, 2024, providing master's and doctoral degrees.

These three scholarships bring fresh air, especially for enthusiasts of studies such as digital, renewable energy, blue economy, biotechnology, and metallurgy. Enthusiasts in these fields can immediately register themselves during the current ongoing registration period.

The co-funding partnership program of these three scholarships involves Kemenkomarves, campus parties, and private companies. The UST scholarship in South Korea is a joint funding between LPDP and UST campus. The NEU scholarship is joint funding between Kemenkomarves, LPDP, NEU, and Zhejiang Huayou Cobalt Co. Ltd. Meanwhile, the CSU scholarship is funding between Kemenkomarves, LPDP, CSU, and GEM Co. Ltd.
